February 1: Art Across the Curriculum

You don’t need to be an art expert to include art in your curriculum. Art-based activities can enliven a math lesson, stimulate creative writing, interpret the past, encourage verbal expression and aid the development of observational skills. Using examples from the museum’s collection, this workshop will explain methods of using art to teach other curriculum areas.

February 15: Forming Opinions About Art

Discuss art with your peers and learn techniques for using art to develop critical thinking and communication skills in your students

February 29: Pieces of Georgia

Local author Jen Bryant will discuss her book, Pieces of Georgia. Written for middle school students, the tale concerns a young girl whose talent and love of art help her to overcome challenges in life. In the story, the girl visits the Brandywine River Museum.  Bryant will speak about her work and present ideas for using the book in the classroom.
