Animal Adventures Family Workshop at the Brandywine River Museum

CHADDS FORD, PA. - Families are invited to the Brandywine River Museum on Thursday, March 24 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for Animal Adventures, a workshop featuring fun-filled, animal-themed activities. 

The workshop begins with a tour of Animals in the Gallery, a special exhibition examining artists' renditions of creatures from farm animals to household pets. After searching for clues to animal riddles in the gallery, participants use their imaginations to draw their favorite animals or pets.

As part of the festivities, families can also view "Stories from the Farm," a video of classic children's stories which will be shown throughout the day in the Museum Lecture Room. Tales include "Rosie's Walk" by Pat Hutchins, "The Little Red Hen" by Paul Galdone, "Petunia" by Roger Duvoisin, and "The Pig's Wedding" by Helme Heine. 

In addition, animals are featured in the museum's new audio tours for children. Learn about Den Den, the pig in Jamie Wyeth's painting Portrait of Pig, and Nell, the dog in Night Sleeper by Andrew Wyeth. The audio tours feature 25 works from the museum's collections presented in an interactive format. Audio tours for adults are also available, and both tours are for rent in the Museum Shop.

Visitors receive $15 off new family memberships and $10 off family membership renewals during the workshop.

Animal Adventures activities are included with regular museum admission. Adult audio tours can be rented for $3 each; children's audio tours are $3 for the first rental and free for the second. For more information contact the museum's education office at 610-388-8382.

Located on U.S. Route 1 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, the Brandywine River Museum is open daily, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Christmas Day. Admission is $8 for adults; $5 for seniors ages 65 and over, students with I.D., and children ages 6 to 12; and free for children under six and Brandywine Conservancy members.
