In conjunction with the decorative arts exhibition Treasures from the Sea: Sailors' Valentines and Shellwork (on view through July 23), the Brandywine River Museum hosts a book signing with Grace L. Madeira, Mary S. Page and Ann T. Schutt, three of the four co-authors of the recently-published Sailors' Valentines: Their Journey Through Time. Sailors' Valentines: Their Journey Through Time features more than 200 color photographs, maps and drawings that reveal unique sailors' valentines and shell collectors' chests from England, Barbados and the United States created over 200 years. The book chronicles the history and lore of sailors' valentine and explores their exquisite designs, both antique and contemporary. Copies of Sailors' Valentines: Their Journey Through Time are available in the Brandywine River Museum Shop for $45 (hard cover), plus tax.
