35th Year for Train Display
at the Brandywine River Museum

(December 2006, #046)

For Immediate Release

CHADDS FORD, PA — All aboard the holiday express to A Brandywine Christmas as the Brandywine River Museum's fabulous train display chugs along through January 7, 2007.

For the 30th year, Steven A. Clarke has coordinated the O-gauge model railroad layout featuring non-stop action by five trains on over 2,000 feet of track. Winding through the layout are a 60-car freight train and Amtrak trains as well as several foreign train sets. Thomas the Tank Engine and friends are frequently on the tracks, and Santa in his sleigh sails through the air over the scene. A hidden train-mounted camera provides an engineer's view of the layout for visitors. Benches are provided so little ones can get a better view.

New to the display this year are two engines running on the concrete products quarry line. Model boats and ships are featured in cases. Located on U.S. Route 1 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, the Brandywine River Museum is open daily, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Christmas Day. Admission is $8 for adults; $5 for seniors ages 65 and over, students with I.D., and children; and free for children under six and Brandywine Conservancy members. For more information, call 610-388-2700 or visit the museum's website at www.brandywinemuseum.org.
