MUSEUM EXPLORER MORNINGS
(May, 2003, #019)

WHAT: This summer the Brandywine River Museum invites families to explore the museum during educational workshops for children ages 3 to 11 accompanied by an adult. Each program includes a thematic guided museum tour followed by a hands-on art project.

WHEN:

July 10 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Learning to Look
Develop observational skills and discover the elements of art on an introductory museum tour. After the tour, create collages using a variety of textured materials.


July 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Scenes of Summer
Explore lovely scenes of summer through seascapes and landscapes in the museum galleries. After the tour, use oil pastels to capture summer memories on paper.


July 24 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Who Am I? (Peering at Portraits)
Become a detective and uncover hidden clues in painted portraits from the museum's collection. After the gallery mysteries are solved, make colorful cutout portraits with some unexpected materials.


July 31 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Animals in Art
Search the museum for pigs, cows, puppies and other animals in paintings and sculpture, then make three
-dimensional creatures using Crayola's Model Magic.


WHERE: The Brandywine River Museum is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and PA Route 100 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

ADMISSION: The workshops are free with museum admission ($6 for adults; $3 for seniors and students; free for children under six and Brandywine Conservancy Members).
