WHAT: Don't miss the last chance to see a rare and extensive collection of antique smoking pipes at the Brandywine River Museum.
The Art and Design of Antique Smoking Pipes features an outstanding selection of antique European and American pipes made of clay, porcelain, wood and meerschaum that dramatically demonstrate how this utilitarian and ubiquitous utensil gradually evolved into an art form expressed in many mediums. The exhibition focuses on extraordinary examples of smoking pipes that provided their owners with visual as well as smoking pleasure, and with prestige. All are lent from private collections.
